"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." (Psalm 34:1)
I was born in 1957 (the best year for car design in my opinion ) in southern California. I was Raised Catholic, going to catholic schools through high school (even becoming an alter boy). So I was raised to know about God and had knowledge of God, but as a teenager I drifted from Him and got caught up in the world. In 1977 I met the love of my life, Sandy. We moved 1600 miles away to Joplin where we were blessed with two wonderful children (& now several grandchildren).
In 2011 the Joplin tornado changed our lives forever. The Lord led us to Calvary Chapel, and the heart I witnessed to serve people and meet needs in the community blew me away. If the example of Jesus was of love and serving others, then I realized that was something lacking in my relationship with God. I had been serving the Lord in a previous fellowship but I realized it was out of selfish reasons, fear and a sense of responsibility. It was my job.
I have learned more in my time at Calvary Chapel about the true law of Christ (John 13:34) and more about my salvation and what it means to be sanctified and set apart for the Kingdom God than all my previous years combined. I never really realized what it is to be a Christian, or to walk in the Spirit until the pure and simple teaching of the Word of God that I received at Calvary Chapel. It is my heart to serve in any capacity that is needed. It is truly a blessing to call Calvary Chapel Joplin my home church and I'm filled with expectations of how our Heavenly Father is going to use this church to touch many lives for His glory and purpose.
